OPENING
High Level Opening Segment
Description
IVECF 2026 convenes at a pivotal over critical transition minerals and technologies, moment marked by energy supply disruptions, persistent energy poverty in parts of the Global South, rising competition and escalating climate impacts on infrastructure dynamics that increasingly translate into economic fragility, social tensions, and geopolitical instability. The opening session frames why IVECF’s guiding motto, “Powering Prosperity, Security and Stability”, requires integrated action across sustainable energy, green industrialization and climate resilience, treated as mutually reinforcing delivery priorities rather than separate agendas. The session also positions IVECF 2026 as a bridge between political ambition and implementation. It signals alignment with the emerging delivery architecture on global green industrialization and the Forum’s intended outputs (Vienna Call to Action and related follow-up), while emphasizing the need for inclusive approaches that enable Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to participate fully in the transition.
