IVECF Platform

Powering Prosperity, Security and Stability

Under the guiding motto “Powering Prosperity, Security and Stability”, the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum 2026 (IVECF 2026) will ignite global momentum for just and inclusive energy and climate transitions, with green industrialization as a key driver of sustainable economic transformation.

Convening leaders from governments, international organizations, industry, academia, development partners and civil society, the Forum is a unique opportunity to coordinate and co-create solutions to accelerate collective global action toward a sustainable, resilient and low-carbon future.

Building on Vienna’s legacy as a multilateral hub for international cooperation, IVECF 2026 bridges political ambition with technical implementation. It explores how transformations in energy, industry, and climate systems can prevent conflict, strengthen resilience, and unlock shared prosperity, placing particular focus on those most in need, including least developed countries (LDCs), landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), small island developing states (SIDS), underrepresented groups such as women and youth. It also spotlights the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in building sustainable futures in fragile or post-crisis contexts.

A decisive moment for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The Forum will showcase solutions and local leadership that translate into concrete action, delivering prosperity, energy security and stability. Participants will gain strategic insights and forge actionable partnerships that advance SDG 7, 9, and 13, and help shape the post-2030 development agenda.

Thematic Focus

The Nexus

At its core, IVECF 2026 is built around a triangle of transformation — an integrated approach that positions the pillars of sustainable energy, green industry, and climate resilience as mutually reinforcing pathways toward a stable and secure future.

Green Industry

Development & Inclusion at the core. Green industrialization drives inclusive and gender-responsive growth and competitiveness, generating jobs and resilience in economies most affected by climate and security risks.

Sustainable Energy

Justice & Equity at the core. Access to sustainable, affordable, and reliable energy is not only an economic necessity but a matter of equity and peace — ensuring no one is left behind in the global transition.

Climate Action

Resilience & Social Cohesion at the core. Climate-smart policies, technologies, and adaptation strategies build communities that can withstand shocks, recover faster, and contribute to long-term stability through inclusive approaches.

Understanding IVECF

These three elements are bound together by a security–prosperity nexus, making IVECF 2026 the only global platform where development, justice, inclusion and resilience converge to deliver lasting peace and shared progress.

Participation and Engagement Opportunities

IVECF 2026 offers multiple avenues for stakeholders to engage, contribute, and collaborate in shaping the global energy and climate security agenda.

Governments and Regional & International Organizations

Engaging actively in the Forum by joining high-level plenaries and thematic roundtables, delegate experts to take part in technical discussions and peer exchanges, sharing national strategies, policies, or commitments, and contributing to the development of the Vienna Declaration on Sustainable Energy and Climate Security.

Private Sector and Industry Leaders

Stakeholders are encouraged to engage in the plenaries and roundtables to pledge business action and showcase solutions, present technologies and collaborate with UNIDO projects, demonstrate corporate leadership, and network with global leaders from governments, international organizations, and civil society.

Development Partners

Partners can contribute by leading thematic deep dives and solution-focused discussions, supporting the participation of experts and speakers from LDCs, LLDCs, SIDS, and underrepresented groups such as women and youth, advancing follow-up initiatives on capacity building and financing for just energy transitions, and joining UNIDO in the development of new initiatives and projects.

Women, Youth and Civil Society

Youth and women leaders are invited to organize dedicated deep dives and capacity-building activities, join discussions and present innovative gender-transformative solutions, influence international declarations and frameworks through intergenerational and intersectional dialogue and advocacy, showcase community-driven approaches that advance equity, resilience, and climate justice, and engage in networking opportunities that strengthen leadership and emotional resilience.

Expected Outcomes

Key outcomes include the Vienna Declaration on Sustainable Energy and Climate Security, a global call to action linking just transitions with stability, peace, and prosperity; the Global Green Industrialization Pact Five-Year Action Plan, outlining a roadmap to accelerate sustainable industrialization through cooperation and innovation; and a set of policy briefs and partnership commitments that will feed into major global processes, including COP31, the SDG7 Review, and the 2026 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).
