Ambassador Wael Aboulmagd is a senior Egyptian diplomat with over three decades of service in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, currently serving as Assistant Minister for Climate, Environment and Sustainable Development. He has extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy, international legal processes, and global environmental governance. Ambassador Aboulmagd has held key diplomatic postings in Washington, New Delhi, Geneva, and New York, and served as Egypt’s Ambassador to both Ottawa and Brasília. His career has focused on United Nations processes, human rights, and international legal frameworks, alongside a leading role in climate diplomacy. He served as Special Representative of the COP27 President and as a lead negotiator under the UNFCCC. He also chaired the G77 and China in the UN climate process and served on the board of the Green Climate Fund.
