Mohammed G. Alkali is the Managing Director/CEO of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), leading Nigeria’s coordinated recovery and development efforts across Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe. He spearheaded the North-East Stabilisation and Development Master Plan (NESDMP), aligning government and partner interventions under a unified, results-driven framework. Under his leadership, the NEDC has delivered impactful, multi-sector interventions, including over 3,500 housing units for resettlement, reconstruction of more than 20 bridges, and approximately 200km of roads to improve access and economic connectivity. Through largescale agricultural support, the Commission has strengthened food security and livelihoods across rural communities. The “Light Up the North-East” initiative has installed over 50,000 solar-powered streetlights, significantly improving security and enabling nighttime economic activity, while the NEDC Electric Vehicle (EV) Scheme advances clean energy and sustainable mobility. Alkali has also led the Commission to attain key ISO certifications, reinforcing transparency, governance, and global best practices, and positioning NEDC as a trusted partner in Nigeria’s recovery and resilience agenda.
