Daniel Almeida Filho currently serves as Secretary of Technological Development and Innovation at Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. He holds degrees in Mechatronic Engineering and Medicine, with a Master's and PhD in Neuroscience from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte and a postdoctoral fellowship from UCLA, where he was named a PEW Latin American Fellow in 2019. He also works as an Adjunct Professor at SENAI-CIMATEC, where he leads a research group focused on neuroergonomic factors in cognition — including their impact on individuals with autism and ADHD. He additionally coordinates the ReaPTA 5.0 Personalised Rehabilitation Programme, a partnership between SENAI-CIMATEC and the Bahia State Health Secretariat aimed at advancing assistive technologies for people with disabilities.
