Sunil Handunneththi (born 19 October 1971) is a Sri Lankan politician and Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development since November 2024. He is a member of the National People’s Power (NPP) and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), and was elected to Parliament from the Matara District in 2024. He previously served as a Member of Parliament for the Colombo District.
He studied at Dharmasoka College and holds a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He began his political engagement as a student leader, serving as Convener of the Inter University Students’ Federation, and entered full-time politics in 1998. He later joined the JVP Central Committee and Political Bureau and served as Financial Secretary.
Elected to Parliament in 2004, he also served as Deputy Minister of Rural Economic Affairs. In his current role, he focuses on strengthening domestic industries, supporting SMEs, promoting green industrial development, and advancing innovation and entrepreneurship.
