Ambassador Magdi A. Mofadal is the Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations in Vienna (since 2022). He currently serves as Founder and Co-Chair of the Group of Friends of Security in Vienna (since 2024) and previously held the presidency of the Industrial Development Board (2023–2024). He was also Vice-President of the 11th Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention on Transnational Organized Crime.
With nearly three decades of diplomatic service, he has held senior roles across multilateral and bilateral missions, including Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, Deputy Head of Mission in South Sudan, and Chargé d’Affaires a.i. in Washington, D.C. He has also served in Nairobi and Bucharest, as well as in key departments of Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Mofadal holds a BSc in Political Science from the University of Khartoum and speaks Arabic and English.
