
Mr. Gergő Kocsis

Gergő Kocsis currently serves as Deputy State Secretary for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) of Hungary and is responsible for overseeing the engagement of Hungary in international organizations. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Pécs, having also continued his doctoral studies in international law there. From 2012 to 2016, he worked at a law firm and later held different positions at the MFAT. From 2016 to 2022, he served as deputy to the Permanent Representative at the Permanent Representation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. From 2022 to 2025, he served as Head of the UN Department in the MFAT. In addition to his duties as Head of Department, he has also served as Hungary’s Permanent Representative to the Danube Commission, with the rank of Ambassador, since May 2023. Since October 2023, he has been Chair of the Preparatory Committee for the Diplomatic Conference reviewing the Belgrade Convention. He has represented Hungary in proceedings for advisory opinions at the International Court of Justice and he is currently the agent of Hungary in a case before the ICJ.
