The Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas became the second Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis in 1995 after leading the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party to victory. Born January 14, 1953, in St. Paul’s, he studied Natural Sciences at the University of the West Indies and later earned medical degrees in Jamaica. After practicing medicine, he entered politics, becoming Party Leader in 1989. Dr. Douglas led four consecutive election victories (1995–2010), becoming one of the longest-serving Prime Ministers in the Caribbean. His administration focused on economic diversification, healthcare, education, and housing, while he also championed HIV/AIDS awareness and Small State development. He received numerous international awards and was appointed to the Privy Council in 2011. He served as Leader of the Opposition (2015–2022). Following the 2022 elections, he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs Intl Trade Industry & Commerce Consumer Affairs Economic Development and Investment.
