Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu is an economist and public official with extensive experience in finance, governance, and economic policy. He earned a degree in Economics from Usmanu Danfodio University (1983), a Master’s in Money and Banking from the University of Jos (1989), and later a Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University as a World Bank scholar.
His early career spanned key financial institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, Citibank, and the World Bank/IFC, alongside advisory roles in Nigeria’s Ministry of Finance. He entered politics in 2009 as a Senator representing Kebbi Central and was re-elected in 2011. He later served as Governor of Kebbi State (2015–2023), including leadership roles in national governance forums and food security initiatives.
Bagudu has also held senior roles in private sector companies and received national and regional honours for his contributions.
