Ambassador Dr. Peter Huber has served as Director General for International Partnerships and Humanitarian Assistance at Austria’s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs since September 2022. Prior to this, he was Special Advisor for Austria’s candidature to the UN Security Council. From 2017 to 2022, he served as Austria’s Ambassador to Germany, and from 2014 to 2017 as Ambassador to Spain, with accreditation to Andorra. A career diplomat, he has also held senior roles within the ministry, including Head of Cabinet to two State Secretaries and Director of the Department for International Organizations, with postings in New York and Paris. Ambassador Dr. Huber holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Innsbruck, a LLM degree from Georgetown University Law School, and is an alumnus of the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. He has also taught at universities in Madrid and Vienna and speaks German, English, French, and Spanish.
