Description

UNIDO, in partnership with the UNFCCC Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC), is introducing the Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Guidebook on Renewable Energy. Energy is the most prioritized sector for climate change mitigation in countries’ TNAs, and the energy transition lies at the core of mitigation targets set by Parties in their NDCs and long-term low-emission development strategies.

This guidebook provides practical, up-to-date guidance to help countries assess, prioritize, and implement renewable energy technologies, supporting the transformation towards climate-resilient and sustainable energy systems. The event will feature an overview of the guidebook, followed by country experiences demonstrating how TNAs and Technology Action Plans (TAPs) inform national strategies, attract finance, and strengthen investment-ready project pipelines.

The session aims to enhance understanding of how energy sector TAPs contribute to inclusive and equitable energy transitions. Participants will gain insights into integrated approaches involving finance, policy frameworks, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. By connecting technology needs to actionable pathways, the event supports countries in accelerating renewable energy deployment and achieving long-term climate objectives.
