Coordinating Support to Early-Stage Clean Energy Companies – Lessons From the Productive Use of Renewable Energy Sector
Description
How can we build a stronger pipeline of investment-ready clean energy companies across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia?
Despite the promise of technologies such as solar irrigation, cooling, and agricultural processing, many early-stage productive use of renewable energy (PURE) companies struggle to scale. This is often due to fragmented and poorly sequenced grant funding and technical assistance. As a result, too few companies successfully navigate the “valley of death” between pilot projects and access to commercial capital.
This session brings together leading funders, technical assistance providers, and impact investors to explore how early-stage support can be made more effective, better coordinated, and more impactful. Drawing on new research from Energy Saving Trust and EEP Africa—conducted by Open Capital Advisors—the discussion will examine what enables companies to progress, where they stall, and how targeted collaboration across programmes can unlock significantly greater value.
