Reducing Friction, Unlocking Capital: Financing at the Energy-Water-Agriculture-Nutrition Nexus
Description
This session will explore how renewable energy solutions can strengthen resilient food systems across rural Africa while addressing persistent financing barriers at the agri–energy nexus. Despite growing recognition of the commercial and development potential of decentralized energy for agriculture, enterprises continue to face structural mismatches between available finance and business needs, including misaligned KPIs, risk perceptions, ticket sizes, and investment time horizons.
The session will move beyond problem identification toward practical solutions, focusing on how improved programme design and catalytic capital structures—bridging philanthropic, concessional, and private finance—can unlock scalable investment pathways. Through interactive roundtables and a panel discussion, participants will examine opportunities to mobilize local financial institutions, DFIs, and impact investors, while strengthening investment readiness across agri-energy SMEs.
The discussion will identify actionable entry points and define a forward-looking agenda to scale financing for the agri-nutrition-water-energy nexus.
