DEEP DIVE
Advancing Capacity-Building and Standards Innovation for the Energy Transition towards Resilient, Smart and Inclusive Energy Systems
Description
This thematic side event, organized by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) in partnership with leading international organizations, will explore how capacity-building and international technical standards can accelerate the global energy transition towards resilient, smart and inclusive energy systems.
The session will highlight the role of systematic, scalable and demand-driven capacity development in enabling countries to design and implement effective energy transition pathways aligned with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. It will feature the launch of the Global Energy Interconnection Academy (GEI Academy) as a new global platform for training, knowledge exchange and South–South and triangular cooperation, develop and deliver a global public good for capacity-building in the field of energy transition.
Participants will also be introduced to the initial findings of the Global Energy Transition Capacity-Building Gaps and Needs Assessment, providing evidence-based insights to guide policy and investment. Through high-level dialogue among governments, international organizations, industry and academia, the session will foster partnerships, share best practices and advance coordinated global action to build the human and institutional capacities needed for a sustainable energy future.
