Description

High-integrity international carbon markets have the potential to accelerate sustainable and inclusive industrial development—but only when strong governance, transparency, and trust are in place.

This Deep Dive session will explore how countries and the private sector can work together to build the enabling conditions needed to unlock private climate finance and support the development of credible, high-quality mitigation activities aligned with national climate and industrial priorities.

The discussion will focus on overcoming persistent barriers that limit private sector investment, including regulatory uncertainty, insufficient MRV systems, and unclear authorization processes. It will also examine the practical reforms and partnerships required to establish predictable and investable carbon market environments.

The session will highlight UNIDO’s Carbon Market for Development (CM4D) Partnership, a flagship initiative designed to mobilize private sector engagement and accelerate participation in high-integrity international carbon markets. By providing comprehensive support across the carbon project cycle, CM4D helps de-risk investment, strengthen institutional capacity, and build a trusted pipeline of mitigation activities that advance industrial decarbonization and sustainable development. This event offers a platform for governments, companies, financiers, and technical partners to jointly shape transparent and credible carbon market systems that deliver real climate impact.
