Showcase: promoting innovation and deployment of low-carbon technologies (UNIDO)
UNIDO is executing the GEF-supported project “Facility for Low Carbon Technology Deployment (FLCTD)”, which aims to identify innovative low-carbon technology solutions to accelerate the energy transition and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from industrial and commercial sectors. These innovations are assisting in addressing the technology needs of the industry through low-carbon, clean energy technologies developed through competitive challenges and business models. The Project has implemented five annual innovation challenges and selected 78 winners. The project has committed over USD 3m for technology validation. Further, through an Accelerator programme, 67 climate-tech startups received mentoring support, including 17 women-led start-ups. Thus far, 35 innovations have been validated and 27 commercialized.
This side event will be a great opportunity for innovators and other program units engaged in promoting low-carbon technologies to share in the experience of the FLCTD project and hear directly from entrepreneurs who have directly benefitted from the program.
