Ms. Sylvie Lemmet

Director for European and International Affairs, Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, France

Since November 2013, Sylvie Lemmet is the Director for European and International Affairs with the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable development and Energy. She is thus responsible for the UNFCCC process within the Ministry. As such, she and her team have closely followed the work of the ADP’s Workstream 2, and the TEMs, which can operate as a bridge between the ADP and the economic world. Since the Lima COP, Sylvie Lemmet is also in charge of the Lima Paris Action Agenda, where international cooperation initiatives and non-state actors play a central role.
Prior to that, from 2007 to late 2013, she was the Director of UNEP’s Technology, Industry and Economy Department, where she gained a strong expertise in the field of energy efficiency and technologies for the environment. In her career, Sylvie Lemmet has held a series of senior management positions and has led large teams to success (with the private sector, NGOs, international organizations). She has been the Chief Financial Officer and, later, a member of the Executive Board of Médecins sans Frontières working in the field of humanitarian emergency assistance. As senior official with The World Bank, Sylvie was responsible for large scale projects and initiatives in the area of environment.
Sylvie Lemmet holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University and École Nationale d’Administration (ENA), respectively as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from École des Hautes Etudes Commerciales and a degree in Economics from the Sorbonne University.
