Ms. Leonore Gewessler has been the Austrian Federal Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology since January 7, 2020. After graduating from high school in Graz and studying Political Science in Vienna, Leonore Gewessler worked as Head of Office in the Office of the district leader of Vienna’s 7th district from 2006 onwards. In 2008, she moved to the Green European Foundation in Brussels, where she took over the management of the Europe-wide NGO. As of 2014, Leonore Gewessler worked as political director of Global2000 – Friends of the Earth Austria back in Austria. In addition to her professional activities, she was – among others – a member of the board of Friends of the Earth Europe.
