Professor, University of Groningen & New Energy Coalition
André Faaij is appointed as Distinguished Professor Energy System Analysis at Groningen University and Academic Director of a large public private partnership called New Energy Coalition.
His research covers, amongst others, energy transitions and energy system analysis and modeling, bio-based economy, industrial transformation, carbon capture and storage, renewable energy, alternative transport fuels, energy system & scenario analysis, technological learning and energy policies.
He works as an advisor for governments, the EC, IEA, the UN system, GEF, OECD, WEF, WEC, the energy sector & industry, NGO’s, etc. He contributed to various IPCC reports, the World and Global Energy Assessment and IEA’s World Energy Outlook. Furthermore he was appointed Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and awarded the Linneborn Prize for outstanding contributions to the development of energy from biomass.
He published over 600 titles and, qualifies as ‘highly cited researcher’ by criteria of Thomson Reuters ISI Web of Science.
