Vienna: An International Energy Hub
Drawing on Vienna’s rich legacy of diplomacy and culture, the last decades have witnessed the transformation of the city into an international energy hub.
The plethora and range of international and non-governmental organizations dedicated to the field of energy are a testament to this development, and their joint ventures in the form of the Vienna Energy Club (est. 2009) speak to the value of the city as a focal point for flagship conversations and initiatives in the energy space.
Such institutions include the Energy Community (EnC), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Austrian Energy Agency, the International Peace Institute (IPI), the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP).
